Biography

Born in Ayrshire, Scotland, Elayne discovered her passion for ballet at the age of two. She began her formal training at a local Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) school, and by age 11, earned a place at the prestigious Dance School of Scotland to pursue full-time training. Elayne consistently excelled in her RAD exams, achieving Distinction in all levels up to Advanced 2, which qualified her to compete in the esteemed Genée International Ballet Competition. She also gained valuable experience as both a junior and senior associate with Scottish Ballet.

In 2015, Elayne graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Ballet. Upon graduation, she was handpicked by the dance director of Scottish Ballet to join the company as an artist. During her time with Scottish Ballet, she toured the UK with productions of The Nutcracker and Cinderella, and performed in the Asian tour of Romeo and Juliet. After several years of performing professionally, Elayne shifted her focus towards teaching.

In 2018, Elayne earned her Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance, gaining Registered Teacher status. She also holds a Certificate in Progressing Ballet Technique and is a member of the Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance.

Alongside ballet, Elayne has had a successful career in competitive Highland dance, winning numerous championship titles, including the Scottish, British, and European Championships. In 2015, she joined the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Dance Company, and enjoyed performing internationally.

Elayne is deeply passionate about teaching and is dedicated to passing on her love of dance to inspire the next generation of dancers.
